No.934-12, dated Hong Kong, the 8th March 1912.

The Colonial Secretary.

The Secretary to the Government of India,

Military Finance Department.

I am directed to inform you that Ismail Khan a

copy of whose discharge certificate consequent upon the

disbandment of the Hong Kong Regiment I enclose, has made

the attached statement.

2.

There is no record of any undertaking having been

given such as that referred to by Ismail Khan; But I attach

a copy of a letter from the Goverment of India, dated the

13th May 1903, on the subject of reckoning the services of

men discharged from the Hong Kong Regiment who afterwards

re-enlisted into the 5th Bengal Infantry.

3. Ismail Khan after his discharge went to his home,

married and settled down for 11 months. He then came to

Hong Kong where he joined the Police Force. Re affirms that

he received neither pension nor gratuity on the disbandment

of the Hong Kong Regiment at Jhelum: and if that is so, I

shall be glad to learn whether the Government of India is

prepared to grant him any pension in respect of his 15 years

and 5 months! service in the Hong Kong Regiment, to be added

to the Police pension which he will earn from this

Government.
